I thought I’d share with how my “adult life” started. Some of you may already know this about me while most don’t. I found out I was pregnant with Parker at 17. He wasn’t planned and I definitely wasn’t ready. I was a senior in high school and pregnant. That wasn’t how I’d planned my senior year. Instead of planning a spring break trip I was planning a baby shower. I was 9 months pregnant when I walked across the stage and received my diploma.
Thankfully (after the shock wore off) my family was SO supportive. My mom even took off work the week Parker & I came home from the hospital. My two sisters were great in helping me care for Parker and watching him while I worked. My grandparents, my Aunts & Uncles, and all of my cousins were also there for us when needed. I wouldn’t have survived without them.
After I got pregnant I was given a pamphlet about teen pregnancy. The statics I found bothered me so I made a promise to myself that day that I would surpass every single one of them. I graduated high school, I didn’t have another child within two years, and I didn’t live on welfare. Although I didn’t graduate college I’m ok with that. I tried and it just wasn’t for me. I’ve worked so hard for us and will continue to do so. I’ve had to work two jobs, and we had to use food stamps at one point. But I’m so thankful for Parker and the life we have now! Even though it was so trying and difficult I wouldn’t change a thing. It had truly made me who I am today. I love my growing handsome boy!
I know MTV has “glorified” teen pregnancy with new cars, fancy clothes, and fun trips. That’s not real life for a teen mom so I just wanted to share my honest experience. You don’t get a paycheck for just being a teen mom like Parker thought when he saw the show! lol!
Unfortunately I don’t have many pictures of my pregnancy due to technology and all the weight I gained! Lol
Here’s a picture of Parker and I the day I had him!
Here’s my mom, my sisters, and I before I had Parker!
If you have any questions let me know! Also if you’re a teen mom I’d love to hear your story!
So let me start by letting you know I only wash my hair once or twice a week. It did take me a few months to get here. Living in Colorado’s dry air it was needed! I will just put it in a bun on top of my head or use my shower cap on the days I’m not washing it. I take my shower at night and use my hair care products then I blow dry it. On the days I don’t wash it I use dry shampoo as needed. Normally I don’t need it until the 3rd or 4th day. I have a few dry shampoos I like that I’ll list below! I haven’t found a shampoo/ conditioner that I love! I use Joico and Suave, currently alternating those. Since changing my routine I have noticed my hair is healthier and grows a lot faster! I linked all of the products through Amazon, but you can also find them at Ulta and Target!
After I get out of the shower I spray the it’s a 10 on my ends and comb through it
I blow dry my hair for a minute or 2 then I use Kenra blow- dry serum and finish blow drying my hair
Here’s my favorite dry shampoo
If you have any recommendations on shampoo/ conditioner let me know!
The kids had their fall pictures done last Sunday and I got them back tonight! They turned out SO good! The location and lighting were perfect! They were done at Red Rock Canyon Open Space. I’m so thankful I found Alyssa with Rae’s of Light, she seriously is amazing! She is going to be doing our Christmas pictures this year and I can’t wait!
If you’re local to Colorado Springs here’s her link! https://www.facebook.com/raesoflightphotography/
This is how Sophia started! She was grumpy and didn’t want to take pictures ( typical toddler )
& now she’s smiling!
See?! I just love them! Definitely check her out if you’re in Colorado Springs! 🙂
So last Sunday I got the opportunity to work with a local boutique and photographer. It was SO much fun! The photos were taken downtown in front of a fun mural.
Maemeadows Boutique is full of cute and trendy clothes and accessories. She’s always adding new stuff! I seriously loved everything, and I wanted to take it all home with me! Best part is if you use code LEE15 you can get 15% off!

So this is a fun review! Not only did I adore this book, but I happen to know the author personally. I actually went to high school and graduated with her.
In My Soul is a book of poems written by Kayleigh. She actually has two other books on amazon as well! I’m excited to see where she goes because her work shows her talent!
I enjoyed this book because the poems are so real. I can relate to every. single. one. She writes about motherhood and love and just being in the world today. Do yourself a favor and download it on your Kindle or purchase it from Amazon. You won’t regret it!
I’ll start by saying I love to read. In 7th grade I won an award for reading so many books in school. With my current job I can read in my down time so I have my Kindle and use Kindle Unlimited! It’s a huge money saver for me. For $10 a month I can read as many books on their site as I want!! It’s kind of like Netflix for books. Plus they’re always adding new titles! So definitely check it out if your an avid reader as well.
I found this series on Kindle Unlimited and it seemed like a good thriller, and I was right! I couldn’t wait to start the next book every time I would finish one. It has your thriller side with some romance! Melinda Leigh is a wonderful writer. She actually has quite a few titles on Kindle Unlimited and I’ve read some of other books as well. The 4th book to this series was actually just released on the 18th of September so I’ll be starting it soon! I would recommend anyone who enjoys thriller romance to check this series out! If you’ve read it let me know what you think!
I’m so excited for Fall! It’s definitely my favorite season! The fact that my birthday is in November may have something to do with that! Lol! We have so much planned for the fall season and only have a few weeks to pack them in! My husband will be leaving in a few weeks for training so we have a lot to do in a short time. We’re planning a drive through Cripple Creek to see the amazing Aspens. They turn a beautiful yellow in the fall, but you definitely have to catch them at the right time. If you go too soon there will still be a lot of green and if you go too late the trees will be bare. I have fall pictures scheduled for the kids the end of September and I can’t wait. The photographer we use is AMAZING! She always has tons of cute themed props and displays. We’re also planning a weekend getaway to Estes Park! It’s so beautiful up there! It’s almost home to The Stanley Hotel (The Shining) For my birthday we’re hoping to take a trip to San Antonio which will be so fun. I love San Antonio! There’s so much to do and see! I can’t wait to share everything on here as it comes!
Let me know your plans for Fall!
These are from our Cripple Creek drive last year!
This was Estes Park last year!
My name is Lee! I’m a mother to two. A 10 year old son, Parker and a 2 year old daughter, Sophia. I’ve been married to my husband Erik for 4 years. He serves in the Air Force and we’re currently stationed in Colorado Springs. We’re from East Tennessee and definitely miss lots of things from the south, like Pal’s sweet tea! I work full time for another base here. We love exploring the area and traveling to other states. We love to hike and ride bikes together. I enjoy crafting, shopping, and reading. My goal with my blog is to share books I enjoy, clothes and shoes, recipes, and pretty much anything else I can think of! Can’t wait to share with ya’ll!
