The Spirit of Christmas

Happy Holidays!

In the spirit of Christmas I’ve been thinking back on my past Christmases. The one that sticks out to me is the one where I was in middle school and our dad had officially left us.

Those of you who know me know I have 2 sisters. So my mom was left to raise 3 girls by herself. I’ll also add with no real child support. (That’s another story for another day) I was at the age where I had a decent understanding of money. I knew it would be a rough Christmas. It had already been a rough year.

One Sunday in December we get home after church and there were 3 packages by the door. No note. No from labels. No idea who had left them. We tore into the packages and inside was an Aeropostale hoodie for each of us. When you’re normally in second hand clothes something brand new with a tag still attached is exciting. But what really got us was a $50 bill for each of us!

I’ll never forget the joy and excitement I felt that day. I know presents and money can’t solve all issues and what not, but in that moment it was just a great feeling. Knowing we could all go to the store and get something we wanted. Lifting part of that burden off of my mom.

We still don’t know who left the packages. If you’re by some chance reading this I just want to say thank you! You made 3 little girls Christmas! At a time where we were feeling abandoned and let down this person or persons gave us hope and happiness!

I like to think back on that day to remember how someone went out of their way to bring us some Christmas cheer. They did something they didn’t have to do, and I’ll be forever grateful. I can’t wait for the day that a situation comes to me and I can do the same for someone else.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!! 🎄❤️
